What to do with wavy hair?

I have really thick (and I mean thick, people) hair. It's incredibly long, too, little past mid back and has natural waves in it. I like wearing my hair down sometimes, but because of my hair thickness, I can't leave it wavy, I always have to straighten it so it is still manageable and pretty. When I get out of the shower after washing my hair, I have lots of waves and it looks gorgeous. I want to keep this!

The question is, what kinds of products can I use that will keep my hair from poofing out but keep slight waves in my hair. I would like to stay away from gels because my hair doesn't do good with them. Remember, money is a bit of an issue, but I am flexible. My hair is sensitive and has been colored a bit,

Also, other hair style ideas with curly and wavy hair would be good.

i have similar hair as you....i use john freida products from my local pharmacy store....i start with the frizz-ease hair serum and apply to wet hair evenly, then i use the frizz-ease mousse for curly hair and scrunch my hair. dont put too much mousse cause them the hair gets hard. air dry. try that combo, looks good on my thick wavy hair.

I think you should get your hair layered. It thins it out.

What to do with wavy hair?

hahah alright i would love to help [: there is a stragedy to keep your hair wavy called "scrunching"

To scruch:

Buy/ find gel or mousee. take a shower and after you are down make sure you hair isn't completely dripping wet, just really damp. Take a quarter or nickel size of moouse or gel in the palm of your hand and take a section of your hair and crumble it with the gel up to you're hairline (the root). Hold this for about 5-10 seconds and let go, your hair should have a wavy gel-ly effect. If not, try this procedure again. Repeat until your whole head is "scrunched."Once you get the hang of this it should only take like 5-10 minutes. A easy way to keep your hair wavy. ask if you need more info!

- hope i helped!

Use a moose once you get out, only a small amount and dont scrunch it, just run it through your hair, with also, a NON ALCOHOLIC hair serum, not like biosilk, those have lots of alcohol which damage your hair, buy one with no alcohol, and just finger it in your hair as well, an just a dalop. and remember dont scrunch, unless you want curls curls.

ok this might sound silly, but I have the exact same problem with my hair!! its a pain in the butt!! I carry 2 hair strightners!! lol! but let em tell you what i have done for a long time, i buy baby lotion, and sent you want, makes baby, because the others will dry out your hair, but put this in there everyday about 30 min before you shower, then in the hower shampoo and condition like normale then add a little more to your hair andleave it site for about 3 min, and the re rince, my hairs puffyness and britalness has gone down by at least 75% as far as prducts go sometimes i use the lostion to style, but dont use alot, biosilk is always great for hair frizzyness, and i wash my hair with suave proffesionals shampoo and conditioners, they have many to choose from, pick the one that best fits you, and its cheaper as well, so the money issue isnt there!

After washing your hair and PATTING your hair dry with a towel, let it hang loose and dry naturally. Don't have the comb/brush anywhere near your hair, nope, not even your wide-toothed comb, no matter what the experts say. You may use some wet hair gel just at the ends, so that the hair remains down.

Try this at least once before you choose the best answer. Lol. Good Luck!
