Scrunching thick hair?

my hair is about 4 inches past my shoulder straight on top/wavy on the bottom layer. It gets so poofy and its really really thick. My hair is thinned out and layered, but its starting to grow back. When i wear my hair down i always straighten it but i really want to be able to scrunch my hair. I have gel/mousse/hairspray... but whenever it dries its way too poofy and doesnt look srunched. What should i do?? I always try it after my hair is towel dried/damp and i know how, it just doesnt work. Can my hair just not be scrunched?

Scrunching thick hair?

If you are really desperate to have scrunched hair get someone at a hair place to do it for you. They also might be able to give you tips on how to do it at home.

Scrunching thick hair?

Oh it can be scrunched trust me. you just have to use ALOT of gel. and haisspray and mousse. If i were you I would take a day that you weren't going anywhere, and just experiment. Wash it out, then do it again, until you get it right.

sounds like you need a little extra curl. you should try wash and curl shampoo. you can buy it at any drug store. also try combing your hair with your fingures as soon as you get out of the shower and apply some spray gel to soaking wet hair .

Scrunching thick hair?

no... its possible!! just do it by layer!!! pull your hair up in a half up and srunch the bottom layer and then take a little bit more down and repeat!

Scrunching thick hair?

omg i have the same problem with my hair bcuz its thick...but i do this: when you take a shower put on lots of moose and hair spray and put you hair up but with hair clips in layers then the next morning take it down and just use your hands a little extra moose to make it look good...hope it helps:)

Scrunching thick hair?

its really possible that you dont have "scrunchable" hair. my hair once it gets past a certain point i cant scrunch it anymore. just try putting a curl enhancing mousse on and using a defusser.

hope this helps!

a little thing called a diffuser! It works miracles.. just put the junk in your hair while it is wet and diffuse your hair!!!

Scrunching thick hair?

IT CAN BE!!my hair was the same way!it took me many tries but i finally got it.after you get out of the shower, comb your hair out,dry it with a towel(ONLY A TINY BIT),put a bunch of moose in it(while scrunching it),do this with your head upside down.then get the hairspray and spray a CRAPLOAD of it while still scrunching ur hair. if u want u can blow dry it aferwords on low.

Scrunching thick hair?

I prefer mousse when it is wet and use a towel to scrunch it in my hand rather than my bare hand. that just works bettter for me. maybe use a clip and pull just a little back so it doesnt seem so poofy I have done that too or try a diffuser never done that myself but I have heard it works???

I know exactly your problem though because we apparntly have the same hair although all of mine is wavy/curly. So I either wear it up or straighten it which takes FOREVER to do.

Scrunching thick hair?

I used to have this problem too. What I started doing, though, is not towel drying my hair. After you finish washing your hair, put a serum on it (like Frizz-Ease Serum by John Freida, or Brilliant Brunette shine gloss) and squeeze out excess water. DO NOT TOWEL DRY! It causes frizz prone hair to get more frizzy when you arent planning on straightening it! so after you get out of the shower and your hair is soaking wet, put in the product, and scrunch it into a bun. Leave it on top of your head until it's damp, then let your hair down and scrunch it with your hands. Air dry the rest. Hope this works for you ! :)

Scrunching thick hair?

your hair sounds very similar to mine except yours is a bit shorter maybe.

mines very thick although i've had it thinned and layered, and like yours is straightish on top and wavy/curly towards the ends. it also has a tendency to get very dry and "poofy"

first of all you need to make sure you keep it well conditioned to avoid dryness. i use Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner - they leave your hair really soft and manageable

let it dry naturally - hairdrying is really bad for your hair and should only be used when absolutely necessary.

now trust me when I say this...i've tried every product under the sun when it comes to trying to make the waves/curls less frizzy and theres only ONE that works...Umberto Giannini Flirty Curls Scrunching Jelly...it smells nice and it REALLY works...my hair turns from frizzy waves into ringlet curls when i use it!

hope that helps :)
