Semi permanent dye for black hair?

i'm not allowed to dye my hair because my parents think that i'm "blessed" with such dark hair (jet black) that i shouldn't ruin it but we agreed that i can get a semi perment dye so it doesn't ruin my hair. does it work on black hair? no gel or hairspray

Semi permanent dye for black hair?

no.. it probably won't, you might be able to use a red, and it shine somewhat red, but semi permanent color does not lift at all. You would need permanent to lift your hair lighter than your natural.

A semi permanent color does not have strong peroxide so any color you do on your hair wont show up very well.

if you have really dark [jet black hair], the semi-permanent dye will most likely not work. The only way it would work is if you dyed your hair a much, much lighter color..but then your hair would still just end up an awkward color [similar to when you see black hair with orange high lights]. I dyed my hair lighter once and ever since then i've had to continuously dye it, because it never looks natural anymore.

It probably won't work.

Semi-permanent dyes don't wash out anyway. I dyed my hair with one and now I can't get it back to my natural color. I'll have to dye it forever or look really weird for a few years while I let the color grow out.

ya, try herbal essences, its great, i have red hair, but i use it and it works great and leaves ur hair super smooth, it lasts for 6 washes.

semi- permanent hair dye will not ruin your hair. i'm not allowed to dye my hair either, so i convinced my dad to let me do it because it washes out in however many washes. the one thing that may happen with your hair is that it may leave a tint for little or a long time onceyou have mainly washed it out. it may happen the first time you dye it ..or like many times after..but it will eventually go away. But yeah anyways it will not ruin your hair..just color it.

i have dark brown hair naturally, and semi-permanent won't do anything. maybe in really bright light. . . probably not.

even permanent dye doesn't do much. see if they'll let you get highlights. your hair will need to be bleached.

if my hair isn't even black and that stuff won't show, i really doubt it will on yours.

if your 'rents won't let you get highlights either, then I'd say just wait it out. You'll get to bleach it eventually and then dye over it. that's what i did. when you do get to bleach, you should wait a few days before dying over it.

even after the bleach and dye, my hair is the same texture, not straw-like, thank God.

anyways, sorry. semi-permanent won't work.

So I meet another raven haired girl with parents who love her. I too have jet black hair and while growing up my parents also thought I was blessed.... But as a teen girl I wanted somthing new! It's great that your parents have desided you can have some say so about your hair color so making the most of it is key... It can be done- but because you have such dark hair it will take some real girl go-to.

Now most people will tell you that semi-perm dosen't lift such dark hair- and they are right, but that doesn't mean you can't change your hair color without bleaching. The thing is unless you are asian, your hair may look black but in reality it is Very VERY dark brown thus when dyed your hair can still pick up some color with a semi.

Your options as far as brand are limited, but your color choices are not. The product that I think will give you the most options while still being a semi is Manic Panic. All Manic Panic's colors are semi and do well over naturally dark hair. Sure you won't get as bright of results as if you bleached and then colored- but you will get color. The best part? Manic Panic is known for its crazy colors and most shades that would look crazy over blond hair will look natural over your dark! It's really a great product! Here is the link to Manic Panic's page---%26gt; http://www.manicpanic.com/

The best part is it's cheap and you can buy alot of the colors at Sally beauty supply! It's really a great choice in keeping your beautiful black locks black underneeth some color.

So I hope this helps! Your parents are just looking out for you so don't be to bummed. I'm sure you are a beautiful girl and your parents just want you to know you are beautiful without changing a thing.

:) Good luck!
