does anyone have any tips for learning how to do that

Wow! I haven't seen that hairstyle since way back in the day!

As a former "round the way girl", I'll tell you my old process.

First, you will need tools:

A (new) clean soft flatheaded toothbrush

A non-flaking styling gel ( I prefer a protien gel like Pro-Con)

A fine toothed comb with a spike tip

A satin headscarf

Depending on your hair type, you may need to mist your edges with water or leave-in conditioner. Dip the toothbrush in the gel and start brushing down the hair. Use your finger as you smooth the hairs into a wave with the toothbrush. You can use the pick end of the comb to refine any of the waves into place. Tie the hair down with a scarf, but be careful not to push the scarf forward or backward to disturb the style. Leave on overnight to set or remove before you go out (the key is to get it to dry and set flat so it wont frizz up).

It really is about expression. Although it may not be a "mainstream" look, you never know when some celebrity will catch hold of the trend and folks will be asking you how to achieve this look! Have fun!

Why would anyone want their hair plastered in a zig zag shape to the side of their head? Gosh that is tacky.

You remind me of Deputy Williams on Reno 911
