Straightening hair help?

I can't seem to straighten my hair right. My hair is only sort of wavy on the top along my face, but on the bottom it flicks out in various directions (I guess a result of layering/ waviness). Will growing it out all one length help the sticking out problem? The "flippy" ness?

Also when I straighten my hair, the results don't really last and don't work that great on each layer, maybe because I have fine hair. Should I coat the hair with mouse or gel right before straightening, would that help? Any tips? BTW, i have a wet to dry flatiron.

I understand your problem as my mum's hair used to be the same. Firstly, the plus side of coating your hair with mousse/gel is that it protects the hair from getting damaged. However, you may find that when you straighten it, it may be gooey or you could get white bits in your hair where the gel/mousse has burned.

You could try protective spray, which will protect your hair whilst you don't get the sticky texture/white bits.

Separate your hair into 3 sections and spritz it with hair spray. Brush the hair through and then straighten. If you want dead straight hair, make sure you use no more than 2-3 slow sweeps with the irons, straight down.

P.S. I would also recommend ceramic straighteners, GHD are very good as they get heat quickly in 7 seconds too, so you can get the straightening done in minimal time

Good Luck

get stuff made by herbal essence called dangerously straight the mousse shampoo etc. and put that on your hair and try it... also i would get a regular straightener made with the steel/titanium w/e plates they work amazingly!!! also try straightening layers at a time and go over them really slowly so they get really straight! hope this helps!! =]

You need to get your self some GHD straightners, they are expensive but well worth the money. They will keep your hair straight untill you next wash it. Also, you need to make sure you straighten it in sections, pull it all in the same direction and make sure you use some serum on it to stop any frizz! xx
